Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

An ancient gargantuan oyster has been growing a pearl within its enchanted shell, slowly imbuing it with its wisdom and power over the long years. It is your task to locate the oyster's underwater hiding place and retrieve this pearl at any cost. Please post to let us know you're participating, and list who you will be partnered up with. When you start your RP, please post a link to the topic. We recommend asking people to RP with you via the RP Requests forum, PMs, or the CBox, of course. Availability: Open from today to ~~July 31st~~ Sunday, August 8th (extended due to the upgrade interrupting the timeframe). You have until this deadline to complete the tasks outlined below. Group Size Requirements: 2 to 3. Location: The Shore, Astendan Isles, Pirate's Cove, or The Taras Docks. Posts Required: 7 per person. Prizes: Pearl memento, 75 gold. Pearl Memento Description: A small, beautiful pearl that can be mounted on a ring or clasped to a necklace. Its enchantments grant the possessor the power of hydrokinesis, the ability to actively manipulate a 50x50 foot radius of water; moreso than the Control Waters spell. You can also use this memento to part a quantity of water that is 80 feet (~24.5 meters) in length, 80 feet (~24.5 meters) wide, and 40 feet high (~12 meters); large enough to set up a respectable campground area beneath the water. This is ideal for parting and crossing large bodies of water when there is no other means of transportation aside from walking. The campground volume of water may not be actively used, merely pressed aside to make room for a troop of inhabitants. Goals: Locate the ancient oyster. There are many people around the shores that may know something about suspicious activity out on the water. Find a way to reach the oyster and survive under water long enough to complete all the goals. Figure out how to get the oyster to open its shell. Survive the oyster's powerful, unrelenting attacks. Collect the pearl. Bonus: 50 to 100 additional gold based on quality of completion for the following tasks: Develop a background story. Why is your character on this mission? To help someone else, for personal gain, greed, power, etc? What will your character do once they get the pearl? Will they return it to someone who has asked them to retrieve it, will they give it to someone else, or will they keep it? Oyster's Details: Possesses all wayves spells. Has miscellaneous water-based magical abilities (open for you to decide). All magic is extremely potent. Nearly impenetrable, rocky shell. High intelligence (the same as a highly intelligent humanoid, but cannot speak), strength, and willpower. Can you hurt somebody with it or is it just like hitting somebody with a water hose? 4) How much control do you have over the water? Can you make weapons like swords or clubs with the pearl’s hydrokinesis, or something sort of like a puppet of water? 5) Is the control over water less than that of the spell Control Waters? Or can you control about the same amount? 6) Is the power limited to only controlling water, or does pretty much any exposed liquid work? 7) Can the powers of the pearl control unseen liquids?

You may use more than one character. You will receive the Pearl Memento with all accounts, but I have yet to make up my mind about the gold rewards and bonus. I will get back to everyone on this. XD [edit] I have decided that none of the gold rewards will be rewarded more than once. [/edit] 2.) There is only one "main" pearl, the item that the main quest revolves around. There can be other not-so-important ones in there too though if you wish, it's up to you to decide. I will be imagining that the Memento items are collected from the oyster at the same time as the "main" pearl. 3.) It's not an offensive ability. You can move water, there's not much power behind that. But perhaps it could be used in a Moses-like sense to part a small body of water or something. I might add to the item description. 4.) It's water, and you can move it. The rest is up to you, but it won't hurt anybody unless you like, drown them with it. XD 5.) Let's go with stronger, such that you can control larger quantities of water. 6.) For simplicity's sake, I'll say water-only. 7.) This is too detailed for me to want to make an official decision on. Use your imagination.
