Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Stone scraping and grinding along with the sound of trees being roughly pushed aside was enough to pull Mahea from her thoughts and she glanced back over her shoulder. The golem had lowered himself through the canopy, which explained the sounds she'd heard, and kept going down until his face was about level with her body, his nose close enough that she could reach out and touch it.
Long gone was the rage, Mahea now seemed to look more like a child who'd just had something horrible happen to them. She sniffled, a single tear rolling down one pale cheek only to be followed by another and then another until she couldn't hold them back anymore and she started to cry in earnest. She made no motion to wipe the tears away, moving instead so that she turned on her knees so that she might face him.
"Mr. Pot," she managed to choke out around her sobs. "I ruined my dress!" She offered said item up to him, showing him the almost foot long gash down the side of the skirt. Of course, there were other minor cuts and tears in the fabric from when it had been dragged along the forest floor but Mahea was too distraught over the more prominent one that she had made to even notice them.

Sargoth’s face became heavy with the weight of a frown as he watched Mahea’s eyes. He did not want to see her sadness. It was infectious and it suddenly made him feel terrible. He searched Mahea’s face and then the dress, eyeing the large hole that she showed him, without moving. He offered some consolation as he carefully moved a large finger forward to lightly brush against Mahea’s hair. He was shockingly dexterous in his large form because it fit him like a second skin. He hoped the gentle contact would help distract her from her tears.

His eyebrows shifted as he was inspired by an idea. His lips curled upward again to show a hopeful smile. He moved his finger back from Mahea’s hair and pinched the dress between his thumb and forefinger. The dress slipped out of Mahea’s hands and Sargoth held it near his face, almost like he was inspecting it closer. Then, without warning, he opened his wide mouth and swallowed the dress in a single gulp. The golem looked back at Mahea with a larger smile than ever, almost like he was waiting to be praised.

Mahea leaned into the touch, letting him pet her as his touch seemed to help soothe her. The tears that had been pouring down her cheeks slowed to a trickle though she continued to sniffle and pout. She let him pull the dress from her, the smooth fabric sliding over her fingers as a small hopeful smile blossomed on her face to match his own. She watched as he brought it closer to his face, studying it closer. And then he opened his mouth and swallowed it! He ate her dress!
Her eyes went wide, her lower jaw dropping as she stared at him in shock. "Why did you do that?" Her voice had taken on a higher pitch, one that bordered on a screech. "You ate my dress! Now I'll never get to wear it again!" With that, the dam broke and the tears started to flood down her cheeks again.

Sargoth's smile faded once more as she cried even harder. Small stones had cracked and fallen away from his face as his expression was forced between two emotions so rapidly. He did not feel pain from the loss but did notice the remnants bouncing off of his cheek. He made a rumbling noise, almost apologetic, but he was trying to explain something. The guardian silently cursed the lack of speech in his current form.

The golem reached out again, this time with his fist clenched, fingers upward. He reenacted the motions he had made to give Mahea the gold pebble. This time Sargoth had no intention of giving her another precious metal. Instead, he wanted to give her something that she would adore much more. The tears falling from her chin were evidence of that undeniable fact.

His knuckles dragged against the ground to attract attention to his motion. Then, as he moved near Mahea, he let his fingers uncurl. Atop his hand was a pile of fabric. It was clean and almost seemed to shimmer in the sun. Upon closer inspection, Mahea would find that it was her beloved dress - clean and hole free.

Mahea buried her face in her hands, her form shaking with each sob. Mr. Pot had been so nice to her up until now, giving her a piece of gold and then a flower, so why would he go and do something like that? Why would he take her dress away from her forever?!
The sound of rumbling grated in her ears and she looked up, her eyes already red and puffy. Those eyes focused on the golem’s face and she frowned, not understanding why there were small stones breaking off and falling to the ground. Before she could think to ask why, motion from lower attracted her attention and she looked down to see that he was stretching out a hand to her, his fingers curled up so that she couldn't see what he was holding. Though the tears continued to pour down her face, the frown had vanished and curiosity got the better of her so she sat up straighter, trying to see what it was he was holding. As each finger uncurled, she got closer and closer until her nose was almost brushing against the tip of one finger.
There, sitting on his palm much as the gold pebble had been, was a pile of shining fabric. Mahea gasped, her eyes going wide and she managed to pull herself up onto his hand, crawling over to where her dress sat. She picked it up and, upon inspection, found it to be clean and hole free.
“You fixed it! Thank you, Mr. Pot!” She squealed, hugging the dress to her chest even as she presented him with a blinding smile. “Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!”

Sargoth's face returned to a smile to match Mahea's, this time flowing more smoothly through the motion. He was happy that he could cheer her up. Admittedly, his trick was somewhat cruel in retrospect, but there were only so many ways he could bring his magic to bear on the cloth in his current form. Fortunately he redeemed himself by returning the lost object to its rightful owner.

His other hand moved forward and patted Mahea on the head again. With a thought that finally returned to him, he pulled his hand back to obtain the flower that he had brought with him from the waterfall. With slow but careful movements, he brought the flower down to Mahea and placed it gently on his palm in front of her. A drip of water glistened as it moved past one of his dark eyes as he watched her without a voice.

Had he been any less gentle, the pat on her head probably would've knocked her down but as is, the touch seemed more like a soft caress and Mahea looked up at him, her smile brilliant.
When he offered out his palm to her again, a beautiful yellow flower sat there much like each of his other gifts had. One hand immediately reached up to pat at the area around one ear and Mahea froze, realizing that she'd lost the red flower that he'd given to her earlier. Though her smile dimmed a little, she perked back up when she realized that the golem had already fixed the problem before she'd even realized it was there. The yellow flower was immediately placed behind her ear much as the first one had been and the issue was solved only to be replaced by another.
The glint of sun on water caught her attention in time for her to see the liquid move past one eye and Mahea instantly frowned. "What's wrong Mr. Pot? I'm sorry for losing the other flower but I like this one too!" She chewed on the corner of her lower lip, worrying at it as she tried to figure out what might have happened to bother him. Despite all the random little things that might've happened, one popped up and it seemed the most likely. "You have to leave now, don't you?"
