| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

She picked up her feet as she pranced on the spot. Her long brown tail swished back and forth and her two hind legs moved back and forth in opposition with her tail. Her front right foot dug into the loamy earth. The woman drew her bow from off her back and hook an arrow in place. She drew the string back taunt and aimed for the deer that was quickly disappearing between the trees. Hold. Hold. Hold. Now. Her body exploded like trapped energy that had found an outlet. Her body torn across the ground and Epona’s fingers released the arrow. |

Now that her ankle was all fixed, thanks to the good heart and magic skills of Mr. Seth, Sarah was free to go wherever she pleased and today she wanted to go to the Memphian Falls! She made her way there barefoot, wearing a shirt and a pair of roomy pants, both of which were beginning to become too small for her. ... A horsie?! Sarah peered at it from behind a few trees, gasping as she saw it had the body of a lady. "Horsie?" she called, running after it uncertainty. For being the brave, adventurous girl she was, she still had a heart for animals. |

"Horsie?" Epona skid to a halt and turned her head to look off behind her. She saw nothing at first and turned to look back after the deer she had been chasing. The hind had darted in another direction, he must’ve heard the voice as well, and Epona spotted her arrow in the tree up ahead. With a slight sigh she went to retrieve it. She worked it back and forth in the wood before she pulled it clear and slipped it back in her quiver with the rest of her arrows. She cracked her knuckles and turned around only to be faced with the girl. “Are you the one who called out?” Epona asked, taking a few steps towards the girl. The one thing about having a horse body was that you towered over everyone else. |

As the horse lady turned to her, for now Sarah had caught up, all she could do was look up into the lady's eyes. It was frightening, the commanding way she spoke and the way she looked down. Sarah felt small, but she wasn't one to show that she felt intimidated, so she puffed out her chest, squared her shoulders and looked up. "Yes, that was me," she said bravely. "I thought you were pretty. And I wanted to say hello." She nodded to affirm this. |

Epona laughed happily at the girl before she bowed down to lay in the grass. Now they sat almost eye to eye. “Well thank you, I think you’re pretty too.” Epona looked out in the direction that the deer had darted off to. “But you did make me lose my hunt.” Epona reached out and placed one hand on the girls shoulder. “I think you owe me now.” |

Sarah beamed when Epona said she thought she was pretty, and smiled proudly at the horse-lady in front of her. However, at the mention of losing a hunt, Sarah frowned. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to horsie," she said with an apologetic nod. "Oh, oh, let's go after it! If you shoot it I'll tackle it down!" she said enthusiastically, spotting the arrows Epona had. |

Epona laughed again. “Epona love. You can call me that instead of ‘horsie’. What’s your name sweetheart?” Epona pulled out an arrow and handed it over to Sarah to take a look at. “Well the thing is I don’t think you have enough heft--“ Epona pushed lightly on Sarah’s shoulder and rocked her back a little. “—to tackle a deer. But how about I teach you to fire an arrow and then you can ride on my back and fire for me?” |

Epona? That was a pretty name, especially for a horsie. "I'm Sarah," she said. "I'm not sure what my last name is anymore, so I think I'm just gonna go without one. It makes me more wild." Sarah bared her teeth, chomping them once to show how 'vicious' she was. She squeaked when Epona pushed her, stumbling back a little but never falling. "I do so have enough heft," she said. "That deer would be a'scared of me, I swear!" But that idea quickly fell away. "Yeah, yeah, yeah! I wanna learn how to use a bow and arrow! And I get a free ride, too?! Okay okay okay I wanna I wanna!" she exclaimed. |

Epona pulled her bow off her back, glad that it was a short bow. She handed it over to Sarah. “Alright I’ll just show you the basics okay Sarah. And I think you would’ve scared the deer too.” Epona ruffled the girl’s hair and stood up. She walked over to a tree and pulled out a circular piece of animal skin. She tacked it up to the tree and then went back to Sarah and sat down beside her. “Alright wild girl,” Epona leaned in and whispered near her ear. “I don’t have a last name either so it’s okay.” Epona took the bow in one hand. “First lesson. Hold the bow like this.” Epona cradled the bow in the groove between her thumb and forefinger. “Here you try.” She handed the bow back. |

The bow was placed into her tiny hands, and Sarah merely looked at it, absolutely enraptured with it. It was absolutely beautiful! For a few moments she seemed to space out, but quickly came back to Imythess when Epona ruffled her golden blonde hair. Giggling, Sarah hugged the bow to her chest and waited for Epona to come back. She almost pouted when Epona took the bow, but watched and nodded at the example. "All right," she said, taking the bow back and doing as she had been instructed. "Like that?" Sarah asked hopefully. |

Epona corrected the girl’s grip just a little. “Like that. Perfect!” Epona took the bow back and held it with her left hand and drew back the string with her index and middle finger of her right. She held the string up to her cheek. “That’s how you draw.” Epona eased the string back and handed it back to Sarah. “Here love you try. But make sure you don’t fire it until I put the arrow in alright.” Epona smiled and waited for Sarah to try. |

Perfect! Sarah beamed at the praise, allowing Epona to take the bow back again and demonstrate. She nodded slowly; it seemed easy enough, right? Taking the bow back, Sarah readjusted her hold to how it had been before, and then began to pull the string back. She bit her lip in concentration, finding it a tad more difficult than anticipated. "This is hard," she said with a pout. Once she had the string pulled, she looked up at Epona, waiting a bit impatiently. "Put the arrow on! I wanna shoot somethin'!" she cried with a giggle. |

Epona laughed. “Well first we need to make sure you can actually use the bow silly.” Epona made another small adjustment and helped Sarah lower the string back. Epona took an arrow and put in onto the string and the arrow rest. “Alright now…” Epona helped Sarah pull back the string again. “Look down the arrow to your target. Move the bow and your body so the arrow lines up with the circle. Now don’t move your head okay and twist your arm,” Epona moved Sarah’s arm so that it lay so that the inner part lined up with the bow. “Okay now.” Epona slowly released her grip on the string. “Release your two fingers when your ready,” |

"Of course I can use the bow," Sarah said matter-of-factly with a proud grin. She was glad someone was finally teaching her how to use one of these things - sadly, Eliel had left before he could, and the people at the guild weren't really into weapons. Nodding her head, she allowed the horse-lady to adjust her as much as she needed and Sarah did as she was told, lips scrunching to the side of her face. "Okay," she said softly. "Three... two... one... kachoooo!" Sarah let go and the arrow soared. Sadly, it didn't hit the target - but it came close. Sort of. |

Epona wrapped her arms around Sarah is a hug. “That was awesome!” Epona smiled at Sarah and released her. “Look how close you came.” Epona took Sarah’s hand and rose. She had to let go at her full height but her walked over to the target and pointed to the arrow which was stuck an inch to the left. “See.” Epona wiggled it out and handed it to Sarah. “Here you can keep this as your first arrow,” Epona sat down next to Sarah again. “But hey enough of bows. I’ll teach you more later I promise. But what do you say to a ride?” |
