Upgraded to Zetaboards; Wonder why everything looks different?

 As you may have noticed, everything on Imythess doesn't quite look the same as it used to. This is because we have upgraded the board from using InvisionFree software to Zetaboards software, both of which are hosted for free by a company called Zathyus Networks.

If you have questions or want more information about the upgrade itself, please read the Frequently Asked Questions topic or post in the Help forum. You can also read the official Zetaboards documentation on conversions.

Zetaboards has a lot of new features and some really powerful tools the staff can use to make our jobs a lot easier. To take full advantage of the new features we a lot of re-organizing and added some new rules.


New Rules

  2. The word minimum in RP forums is now 50 words instead of 20. This limit is still not very high, and everyone here seems to already post well above this.
  3. We now have a mandatory sales counter format that you must use when you make transactions there. We now need you to meet us half way on doing some of the work so that we can fill requests much faster.
  4. You are required to keep a list of all your alternate accounts in the Alternate Character Registry forum. This is to facilitate filling purchase requests.
  5. You must keep all of your character's possessions in one, single inventory topic. (Explained in the next rule.)
    • Note 1: If you already have your inventory spread across several different topics, make an admin request that links to all of them and a mod or admin will combine the topics for you.
    • Note 2: ZB has a limit of 50 images per post, so if you have a lot of items you should split it up into several posts in your inventory topic. This is also good advice for keeping your stuff organized.

  6. You are required to go to Preferences -> Update Profile and fill in the fields that say "Link to Inventory" and "Link to Alt Registry." This is crucial to helping admins fill Sales Counter transactions quickly and easily. It is also highly recommended, though not required, for you to fill in the "Link to Extended Description" field.
  7. You are now allowed to resell your PrCs, skills, and feats. If you don't want something, why force you to keep it, right? They will sell back for half of their buying prices, just like everything else in the shops. A list of resale prices per level will be available soon.



Notes

  • You should choose your starting equipment in your profile (Preferences -> Update Profile) and leave it there instead of putting it in your inventory. This will alleviate all confusion with the shop items.
  • A wider alternative version of the default theme is in the works. If you find any flaws or unmatched pieces of the theme anywhere, please post and let me know about it.
  • A second theme is available, but it currently has several flaws and no matching images. We are waiting on the author's permission to alter the theme, and we are looking for a matching image set.
  • Admins can't edit your signature if you leave it completely blank, so please try to always have something in there.
  • Lists that haven't been properly coded (don't have [*] in front of each list item) will seem to have disappeared, but if you edit the post it's all still there and you can correct the BBCode.
  • Something weird is happening to the sub-forums inside the Admin Requests section that prevents you from seeing them, I'm working on figuring it out. In the mean time you can access them by clicking the links on the outside of the Admin Requests forum.
  • If you use Internet Explorer 8 and notice that the profile information that appears under your avatar in posts is misaligned, toggle on/off Compatibility View. You can do this by clicking the icon that looks like a torn piece of paper next to the address bar.



Settings Update Recommendations

  • Go to Inbox -> PM System Settings -> Display an alert whenever you receive a new PM -> Yes. It makes it easier for you to tell if you have a PM, and they're pretty!
  • Go to Inbox -> PM System Settings -> PM Tracking Default Setting -> On. This automatically tracks all the PMs you send to people and tells you if and when they read them.
  • Go to Preferences -> Board Settings -> Topic Viewing Preference and decide which topic viewing option you prefer: Go to the first unread post of a topic, or Go to the first post on the first page.
  • Go to Preferences -> My Blog and enable your blog. Your blog is a little personal Imy space for you to share whatever you want.



Changes Made

  2. The Advanced Role-Player system has been expanded into new RPer Levels. In order to use the new joinable groups feature we had to reset everyone's ARPer status. This means you will have to re-apply starting from the first level, so carefully read the requirements.
    • With these new levels comes varying discounts in the shops. Each shop item now lists the price you pay per level.
    • Please read the new application method.


  3. The IC forums have had their full descriptions moved so that you can see them when you view the forum itself. Shorter versions of the descriptions are now visible on the main pages. The Dark Lands have been moved to the Special RP boards.

  4. We added some new IC forums! You can now find The Parallel Planes and the Prestigious Training Yards in the Special Role-Play Boards section. These boards used to be active and were retired for a while, but they’re back now. There will also be several brand new RP forums rolled out very soon!

  5. A lot of OOC forums were consolidated to get rid of redundancies. A few others have simply been moved or turned into subforums, but we won't list the ones that are easily found near where they were before.
    • General Discussion = General Chat, Forum Games
    • Links Out = Cool Sites, Affiliates
    • Role-Play Related Discussion = RP Requests, Ideas and Brainstorming, Character Ties, Character Announcements, Guild Discussion & Pre-Guild Preparation (combined into a sub-forum)
    • Creative Corner = The Bard's Verse (Poetry/Song Lyrics), The Scribes Hand (Stories), Artists Palette (Art done by members here at Imythess) , Photo Album, Image Services
    • Announcements = Announcements, Shop Announcements, Polling Booth, Contests, Positions Open


  6. Guilds
    • If you are a guildmaster, please post and let me know which guild you run. I can't keep track of all of you and need to make you leaders of your groups.
    • By default, all guilds get their own joinable group that their guildmasters manage. Only if you have paid the 100 gold to have a special user group color will you get a group that shows up in the online list.
    • Re-read the guilds information topic for more details.


  7. Character Homes
    • If you have purchased a home, please post and let me know which one is yours so that I can give you moderator abilities in your forum, this doesn't seem to have been done already for many of them.


  8. The shop topics have been given a nice, new layout using some new BBCode we have. We hope that this makes everything more readable and less scrolly.

  9. We added some new codes.
    • A word count monitor that doesn't let you post less than the minimum word limit in RP forums.
    • A see-as-you-type word and character counter.


  10. The "Spam Blocker" system has been taken down because Zetaboards has a lot of advanced spam prevention features built into it. This should alleviate any problems people had with registering and validating.

  11. The rules, voting, and affiliate pages have been given their own custom pages.
